Kuwait 14 - 7 (KUNA)
-- The Communications and Information Technology Regulatory Authority has
announced the submission of a tender for applications for a license to provide
Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO) services with the host operator.
Chairman and CEO Eng. Salim Al-Ozainah told Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) on Sunday that the provision of virtual mobile network services is an achievement to be added to the telecommunications sector in Kuwait and aims to achieve the objectives of the telecommunications system that seeks to create the environment for fair competition and encourage it in all areas of telecommunications.
He explained that this is done through the provision of advanced and extensive mobile
services with reasonable prices, while providing more options for users of
telecommunications and information technology in Kuwait.
The establishment of such services contributes to the provision of greater innovation and diversity in packages and care services to participants and the creation of new markets, which contribute to the creation of jobs and the opening of new investment areas in this sector. He also mentioned that CITRA seeks to attract global virtual operators with experience which will revitalize the telecommunications market in line with their future plan and the aspirations of users.
The document includes the terms and conditions for the submission process, the
conditions to be met in the applicant’s submission, the timetable for the
licensing process, the application procedures, as well as the general framework
of the MVNO agreement.
It noted that this decision is a mandate of the Board of Directors of CITRA,
which has agreed to grant a license to provide the services of the virtual
mobile network operator.
CITRA was established in 2014 and is responsible for supervising the telecommunications sector, controlling and protecting the interests of users and service providers, as well as regulating the services of the telecommunication networks in the country with high efficiency, thus achieving optimal performance of the sector.
