Kuwait eyes regional E. connectivity as vital – official

CAIRO, Nov 29 (KUNA) - The Chairman of Communication and Information Technology Regulatory Authority of Kuwait (CITRA), Eng. Salem Al-Othainah, confirmed the important role Kuwait undertakes on the project to establish a regional Internet network after participating as the head of the Kuwaiti delegation in the 22nd session of the Council of Arab Ministers of Communications and Information, held at the Arab League headquarters.

Al Othainah clarified that during the meeting Kuwait presented paper work on the proposed regional network connectivity project, which will be discussed during the next meeting of the Arab Network Committee.

Al-Othainah stated, the several issues discussed during the meeting, such as mail and communications, pointing out that there are several recommendations, including the adoption of the results of the World Conference of Authorized Delegates hosted by the UAE. Adding that the conference discussed topics about the forefront of modern technology, examined Internet technology, artificial intelligence and data storage.

 Al-Othainah wished Arab countries to unite in efforts and expertise, in order to benefit peoples and facilitate procedures to ease Arab peoples' lives.

 The Kuwaiti delegation consisted of CITRA's Head of the Coordination and Follow-up Department at the Office of the Chairman, Bader Al-Sawagh, Director of the Infrastructure Department Khaled Al-Azmi and Yousef Al-Dhafeeri from the Department of International affairs.
